Spanish automotive suppliers reached €40.949 billion in revenue in 2025, reinforcing their commitment to innovation

The Spanish automotive supplier industry generated €40.949 billion in revenue in 2025, representing a slight 0.7% decrease compared to the previous year. Despite a business environment marked by geopolitical and economic uncertainty, pressure on margins, and moderate vehicle production volumes across major markets, the sector once again demonstrated its resilience and industrial strength.

These figures confirm the strength of a strategic industry that contributes around 75% of a vehicle’s value, maintains a strong export capacity, and continues investing in innovation, industrial development, and talent to address the transformation of mobility.

Exports reached €24.688 billion in 2025, a 1.5% decrease compared to the previous year. Despite this slight adjustment, international sales remain at very high levels and account for more than 60% of the sector’s total turnover.

These results reinforce the international position of Spanish automotive suppliers, which provide components, systems, and technologies to vehicle manufacturers and customers in more than 170 countries. Internationalization remains one of the industry's main competitive advantages and a key factor in strengthening the presence of Spanish companies across the world's leading automotive markets.

Innovation once again ranked among the industry's top strategic priorities. During 2025, Spanish automotive suppliers invested €1.220 billion in Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I), representing 3% of total industry turnover and doubling the average investment level of Spanish industry.

This commitment places automotive suppliers among Spain's leading industrial investors in innovation and plays a fundamental role in developing technologies related to electrification, connectivity, digitalization, and sustainable mobility.

Companies also invested €1.450 billion in productive assets during 2025, only 1.1% less than the previous year. This investment supports the modernization of manufacturing facilities, the implementation of new technologies, and the competitiveness of an industry that continues adapting to new technological and regulatory requirements.

The technological capabilities developed by Spanish automotive suppliers are also enabling many companies to diversify into sectors such as energy, defense, aerospace, and advanced mobility, leveraging industrial synergies and creating new growth opportunities.

One of the most significant figures of 2025 was the performance of the aftermarket. While the supply of equipment and components to vehicle manufacturers declined by 1.9%, reaching €9.236 billion, the aftermarket grew by 4% to reach a record €7.025 billion.

This performance confirms the growing importance of the aftermarket within the automotive components industry and its contribution to the sector's overall activity, as vehicle repair, maintenance, and lifecycle extension continue gaining relevance.

In terms of employment, the Spanish automotive supplier industry maintained 325,850 direct and indirect jobs throughout 2025. Direct employment reached 203,658 people, representing a slight increase of 0.2% compared to the previous year.

These are stable, highly qualified jobs distributed throughout Spain, with growing demand for digital, technical, and advanced industrial professionals. Developing these capabilities is essential to support the technological transformation of mobility and continue attracting industrial investment projects to Spain.

Outlook for 2026

Expectations for 2026 remain closely linked to the evolution of the international economy, vehicle production levels, and the global geopolitical situation. Nevertheless, Spanish automotive suppliers continue to rely on innovation, investment, and talent as the main drivers to strengthen their competitiveness.

The technological capabilities, industrial expertise, and international orientation developed by the sector continue positioning Spain as one of Europe's leading automotive components manufacturing hubs. At a time of profound transformation across the automotive industry, Spanish suppliers continue playing a key role in developing the technologies and solutions that will shape the future of mobility.
