With the worst of the pandemic left behind, it seems that we finally do move towards a new normality, back to routines and tasks, as well as professional in-person meetings. Automotive component manufacturers are also back to attending fairs. Some of them have already started. This is the case of Frankfurt’s Automechanika, held two weeks ago in a hybrid format. Its return received a warm welcome as attendance numbers show.
This event, one of the main fairs of automotive component manufacturers, both national and worldwide, witnessed the re-release of 388 exhibitors. 53% of them in-person.
Regarding attendees, this German fair of automotive component manufacturers was visited by 10.000 visitors from 70 countries. A third of them got connected through new digital meeting functionalities such as live streaming, smart pairing and individual video calls. The platform registered 24.000 interactions, 21.000 streaming visits and around 1.600 videocalls.
This notorious digitation trend at Automechanika Frankfurt is something every time more embedded into the automotive-parts market. Forthcoming fairs of automotive company manufacturer to be held in Europe such as IZB and IAA will very likely be featuring hybrid participation formats.
IAA has already done it for the first time in its history. Some weeks ago, in early September, they prepared a hybrid gathering of 400.000 visitors from 95 countries, 744 exhibitors and 936 keynote speakers from 32 countries.
The organizers comment on the next edition - to be held in September 2023- that “exhibitors’ technologies for innovation will be shown not only at the fair’s facilities but all around strategic Munich’s locations. Through a 360º mobility program, the general public will be included while showcasing advances in autonomous transport, digitation and sustainability”.
After being called off twice due to the health crisis, this fair of automotive component manufacturers will be held in October 2022 in Wolfsburg.
In this way, the in-person event in 2022 will be preceded by the release of an enhanced IZB Online Marketplace in October 2021 welcoming exhibitors to display their event-related products and services. Also, a Congress -organized by IPM AG in Wolfsburg- to support the fair was celebrated in a hybrid mode last October 4.
In 2022, IZB will be focused on the automotive industry’s transformation and the progress of digitation in its processes, services and products.

One of the fights which are being battled inside the European Union (EU) to win the war against climate change is the decarbonization of mobility. One of the tools required to achieve such decarbonization is the CO2-emissions reduction in transportation. In this sense, at the beginning of June, the European Parliament approved the ban on selling new fuel-powered vehicles in 2035.
