Automechanika Shanghái 18th edition, the most relevant automotive fair of aftersale in Asia and the second in the world, was held from the 29th to Saturday 2nd of December at National Exhibition and Convention Center de Shanghái (China).
This fair acts mainly as the core way to break into the Chinese market, the world’s leading vehicle manufacturer, with figures of 27.7 million units produced in 2022, a 3.4% inter-annual growth, 32% share of global production. Vehicle sales in this Asian country also increased last year reaching 26.86 million units (+2.1%) according to the CAAM.
Due to China’s relevance to the Spanish automotive sector, Autoparts from Spain attended this fair with the goal to enable the prospection and access of Spanish automotive suppliers to the Asian market. This is the case of ALKO, Europe’s #1 company in shock absorber manufacturing for pneumatic suspension, which belongs to the initiative and participated in the fair with its own stand.
Mª Begoña Llamazares, spokesperson of the platform, considers that the attendance to the fair has the goal of supporting the Spanish automotive suppliers, participating and promoting the position of Made-in-Spain components at the international stage. She also assesses the relevance of this market for the Spanish industry: “The local Chinese automotive sector is developing strongly, which opens diverse opportunities to Spanish spare part manufacturers. Moreover, China is one of the most relevant destinations for component exports. Attending a fair staged in such relevant market is key to promote our companies’ international expansion and go forward to promoting the Spanish branding as an innovative and consolidated automotive supplier”.
Spain has established itself as one of the most attractive countries for investing in the automotive sector. This is confirmed by the report “Reasons to invest in Spain,” prepared by Deloitte for SERNAUTO, which analyzes the factors that strengthen Spain’s position as a key hub for the new mobility ecosystem.
