Automotion plays a strategic role in many countries’ economy. In Spain, concretely, it represents a 10% of GDP and has a highly interconnected effect: from parts´ manufacturing, design and vehicle assembly to marketing and repairs.
The Spanish automotive component industry is present in more tan 170 countries in the five continents and exports more than 58% of their overall billing. With this framework, the Spanish component and equipment sector, as a whole, has a decisive roll in the vehicle value chain, contributing around 75% of its total. This percentage will gradually go up since components, technology-wise, are every time more sophisticated.
“European Mobility Week” has been celebrated from the 16th to 22 September. This year motto: “Zero-emission mobility for all”. Participants showcased the continent’s ambitious carbon neutral objectives for 2050 as was stated by the President of the European Commission during the presentation of the European Green Deal.
Digitalization is part of the Spanish automotive suppliers’ DNA. The sector invests every year more than 4% of the billing (€1,458 million in 2019) in R&D&I. It places Spain as a country of reference worldwide.
